About VEGA
- welcome to a house full of music
VEGA is operated by a foundation. This means that any profit are invested back into the music. The popular concerts finance our work with emerging artists and all our other efforts in the development of live music.
VEGA's success is measured by whether we live up to our purpose:
- To ensure a vibrant music scene from upcoming artists to international level.
- Running an internationally oriented concert scene for rhythmic music and related genres and art forms of high artistic quality.
- Running a small venue for new contemporary music.
- Organizing interdisciplinary events between various art forms, technologies, debates, seminars, etc. related to the rhythmic environment.
- Working towards a vibrant music scene.
VEGA has been appointed as a Regional Venue in Copenhagen. With this, VEGA dedicates both effort and vision towards a remarkable development scene in both a national and international perspective. VEGA will also strive to fulfil the qualitative ambitions of the arts funding on behalf of talent and growth levels, representation, well-being and gender balance in the Danish music industry.
Sustainability
VEGA aims to be a sustainable and responsible provider of cultural experiences.
This is what we are working towards on different levels:
- All VEGAs bars focus on ecological and local producers
- VEGA works to reduce the impact of packaging and transportation
- VEGA sorts waste
- VEGA uses reusable, washable cups in the bars
- VEGA works to minimize the amount of glass and plastic waste
- VEGA has automated all refrigerators to turn off between concerts
- VEGA has replaced light sources with energy-efficient LEDs
- All VEGA's information screens are low-energy screens
- VEGA sets requirements for materials, freight and packaging from all suppliers

Representation and diversity in VEGA
VEGA works to enhance representation and inclusion on our stages. This is reflected in our program and in our dialogue with the industry, decision-makers, and the audience.
VEGA uses a Diversity Compass to help us ensure gender, age, ethnicity, genres, disabilities, and other parameters are diverse among our venues and audience.
Our mentoring and student programs place a focus on talents and minorities off stage.
VEGA recognizes the importance of creating a space where everyone feels welcome and represented. Therefore, people with disabilities can bring a companion to VEGA. We are also part of the sunflower lanyard scheme.

VEGA's music profile, upcoming talents, and niche genres
VEGA works on shaping and developing Danish live music coming from the venue's three stages. We aim to create the best possible experience for the venue's users: for the musicians on stage, for the audience, and for our partners.
With at string of special events, such as VEGAs Udvalgte, and with Ideal Bar as a focal point for emerging musicians, the talent and upcoming artists are in focus all year round in VEGA.
Musically, our programme spans a wide range of genres, with room for niche and experimental acts.
Network and collaboration
For many years, VEGA has cultivated close collaborations across cultural life, both locally, nationally and internationally.
Collaborations enhance quality and inspire all involved. VEGA's concert program is based on strong partnerships with professionals across the music industry nationwide.
Locally, we join forces with other cultural institutions to create a dynamic and inclusive cultural experience for a broader audience. Nationally, we work closely with concert venues and cultural institutions. VEGA is a member of Dansk Live.
VEGA is also a founding member of Liveurope, connecting 24 venues from 24 European countries. VEGA is currently apart of the platform's steering committee.

VEGAs concerts in numbers
VEGA presents around 700-800 artists each year at approximately 350 concerts. VEGA produces or co-produces about 95% of these events, while the remaining 5% are produced by external organizers who rent the venue.
The concerts take place in VEGA's three venues:
Ideal Bar (capacity 200), Lille VEGA (capacity 500) and Store VEGA (capacity 1.550).
The concerts are divided with approximately 45% Danish artists and 55% international artists.
Around 230,000 concert guests visit VEGA each year.
Approximately 6% of VEGA's revenue comes from public subsidies. The remaining 94% comes from our events and operations (ticket sales, rental income, bar, cloakroom etc.)
Professional leadership, organization, and task solving
