VEGA Beyond 2025-2028
- VEGA and Godset in collaboration on new formats for the live scene over the next four years
How can we create deeper musical experiences for both artists and audiences? How can venues become laboratories for creative development and experimental live formats? These are some of the questions we will explore in the coming years.
Since 2021, VEGA has worked on the development of new concert formats through the project "New formats for the live scene" with support from the Statens Kunstfond . At VEGA we call this work VEGA BEYOND – a platform for innovative concert experiences and experimental live formats. We have now applied for funding for the period 2025-2028 to continue this work, this time in collaboration with Godset in Kolding. The funds will be used to investigate and test various initiatives that can strengthen artistic immersion, experimentation and audience experiences on the live stage.
The goal is not just to present music, but to create spaces where artists have the opportunity to experiment with new expressions, delve into their creative process and let the music unfold in new ways. This project is about giving space to artistic curiosity, time for reflection and a freedom to rethink what a live concert can be. We will test everything from immersive sound experiences to cross-artistic collaborations, where technology, scenography and interaction with the audience create new dimensions in the concert experience.
For the audience, this means a deeper and more sensual experience. We will explore how we can give them more than just a concert – how we can create an atmosphere where they can immerse themselves, be surprised and experience music in a more intense and perhaps even personal way. It is about opening up new ways of experiencing music, where the boundary between artist and audience becomes more fluid, and where the concert space becomes a place for collective experience and reflection.
Parallel work Kulturværftet in Helsingør with a related development project, and we hope that together we can create a wave of new inspiration and cross-pollination across venues and artistic environments. By sharing knowledge, experiences and formats across the country, we can hopefully set a new standard for what live concerts can be.
Look forward to it – we will soon unveil the first experiments.
