After a number of years with a more acoustic and jazzy expression in their live setup,Michael Simpson now back to the electronic soundscape that many know and love from his record releases.
With electronic, crackling beats and atmospheric indie rock, Simpson delivers wondrous Danish lyrics that speak to both the heart and the head with equal parts acumen and melancholy.
The “best of” setlist delves into Simpson's impressive back catalogue and revisits some of his most beloved tracks like "Have You Come to Get Something", "I'm Stuck" and "Before You Fall Asleep".
In the 90s, Mikael Simpson made his mark in the indie group Luksus together with Lise Westzynthius, Georg Rune and Henrik Vibskov. Since then, the eminent songwriter has firmly established his name on the Danish music scene with five masterful and critically acclaimed albums.
Mikael Simpson's latest album, Noget laant, Noget Blaat, was released back in 2011 to standing ovations from, among others, GAFFA. In their five-star review, they wrote, among other things: “a dark and melancholic, disturbing and haunting, immensely atmospheric and intensely gripping little stroke of genius of a work.
