Powerful energy discharges hit VEGA with Iceage
When Iceage recently performed their latest masterful album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, from the floor of Store VEGA, the audience was struck by post-punk shockwaves that set the venue’s brown wall panels vibrating in perfect rhythm. GAFFA rewarded the show with four sparkling stars and reported from the swaying floor of the packed hall:
“The Danish rock band is one of the country’s greatest international success stories. Performing directly from the floor of Store VEGA, they demonstrated exactly how to throw a party with guitar riffs and pounding drums.”
At the end of May, the band released their sixth studio album, which—like its predecessors—has been showered with stars and praise by critics at home and abroad. In its glowing review, Soundvenue wrote:
“There is chaotic punk, glittering love letters to people and to life itself, but in the tension between the raw and the melodic, Iceage are above all most fully themselves—and they have never been more enjoyable to listen to than they are right now.”
For Love of Grace & the Hereafter was produced and mixed by Iceage themselves in collaboration with producer Nis Bysted. The result is an album that feels both explosive and uplifting: energetic, melodic, and propelled by a new direction in the band’s sonic universe.
The first songs began to take shape in the wake of frontman Elias Rønnenfelt’s solo album Heavy Glory (2024). With the ballad-driven songwriting of that record out of his system, the band felt drawn back toward a rawer and more explosive sound.
“Having had an outlet for stripped-back balladry, it felt like the right thing to channel a more ferocious side of ourselves for the band's next step,” Elias Rønnenfelt said in a press release accompanying the album’s release.
