The master of melancholy darkens VEGA in indie rock euphoria
After last year's concert at Ideal Bar, NP York back in VEGA – now with a new album in hand.
Because in March the single “Walk On By” landed, and now the songwriter with a penchant for melancholy and raw nerve can now announce both a new single, a brand new album and a concert in Lille VEGA on November 26th.
The frontrunner “Sugar” has just been released along with the news that the musician will be releasing an album in September. The release has been titled What's Next? and is recorded live in the studio under loving and expert treatment from Kaspar Kaae (Cody) and Asger Techau (Kashmir).
The upcoming cut features an indie-rock sound universe, where NP York's distinctive dark vocals engage the listener in hand-played, catchy compositions.
NP York debuted in 2024 with the album, Music for Fools, which was put into rotation on, among others, P5. And the single “Walk On By” also received a brilliant reception, with P6 radio host Carsten Holm praising the track with the lines:
“It sounds a bit like a descendant of David Bowie, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Tindersticks and Johnny Cash. And I think there's something really charming about this. So: give this a listen.”
For the concert in Lille VEGA, NP York will fill the stage with a crew of seven musicians.
The audience can expect a concert where the music is vibrant and unpredictable, where NP York delivers analog snapshots of modern man in a concert experience that vibrates between the intimate and sensitive and the explosive and wild.
