One half of the genre-bending band Water From Your Eyes has just released its new album The Singer in My Band on the street. The album is an organic, eclectic and fascinating work created on the roads in the midst of an international breakthrough.

Because over the last few years, Nate Amos has climbed from the lo-fi underground onto the big international stages. The basement experiments in Chicago's creative underground environment have become a potent and catchy elixir that makes both critics and listeners throw themselves devotedly into the songwriter's arms.

It was with the publication of Box for Buddy, Box for Star from 2024, that Amos really nailed his name with seven-inch nails. The album was highly praised by leading music media such as Pitchfork, Stereogum and Paste Magazine. The latter wrote, among other things:

"With Box For Buddy, Box For Star, Amos unlocks the key to his creative potential, drawing from the archive of great American sounds and songwriting and filtering what he discovers through his special, singular lens."

With The Singer in My Band Nate Amos takes the foundation stones from The Great American Songbook and puts them together again in his quirky and uncompromising indie pop universe.

The album is marked by Nate Amos' deep roots in the American bluegrass tradition. The title track even features a blistering banjo solo provided by his father, bluegrass musician Bob Amos. The songs were created in the passenger seat, while Amos covered thousands of kilometers on long American tours. He talks about the process in the press release:

"Instead of being home and writing on the guitar or a computer, they developed slowly and subconsciously, existing as a sort of intangible thing while looking out the van window."

The listener is taken on a strange and bumpy ride through the changing landscapes of the United States - like a modern beatnik novel set to music.
