Yard Act dazzles with indie rock tones in VEGA
"We're making the greatest third album any band has ever recorded". That was the clear message from Yard Act at the end of 2025, and there are indications that the terrific English indie band thinks so.
After selling out Loppen in 2024, they are now announcing their biggest Danish concert to date when they take over Store VEGA on October 10th.
The unruly Leeds group burst onto the scene in 2022 with their debut album The Overload, which peaked at number 2 on the UK album chart.
Media outlets such as Clash, Uncut and The Guardian swooned over their raw and entertaining mix of Britrock, postpunk, disco grooves and quirky, humorous and socially critical lyrics. Yard Act were compared to iconic British guitar heroes such as Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines, and their debut album was nominated for the coveted Mercury Prize.
The sequel was released in 2024 Where's My Utopia?, which was co-produced with Gorillaz' Remi Kabaka Jr. and demonstrated an even more multifaceted expression. The album reached the top 4 in its home country, and there was also plenty of critical praise from, among others, The Line of Best Fit, NME and Paste Magazine. The Telegraph's reviewer noted with admiration:
"I found myself breathing a sigh of relief halfway through that bands like this still exist in Britain."
Yard Act's most recent Danish visit was as a warm-up for The Hives at KB Hallen last year, but on October 10th they will return strongly when they take over Store VEGA as the evening's headliner.
