Krallice blows VEGA away with powerful black metal
With roots in black metal, Krallice have moved far beyond the genre’s conventions and created an experimental sound entirely their own.
The New York-based band are known for a forward-thinking metal universe, where complex compositions merge in a perfect balance between chaos and control.
Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2008, Krallice have expanded their catalogue with releases such as Years Past Matter (2012), Go Be Forgotten (2017) and Inorganic Rites (2024). Across their discography, they have cemented their reputation as metal musicians unafraid to redefine their sound. This was also highlighted by Pitchfork in its review of Krallice, where they wrote:
“From their first note, it's obvious how unlike most other black metal they are. Barr's agonized yell isn't the usual witchy screech. The guitar tone nods to black metal's trebly buzz, but it also has rich midrange. Instead of paper-thin walls of cymbals, these drums have heft, blessed by a naturalistic analog recording.”
Krallice were formed in 2007, when Colin Marston and Mick Barr began working on a black metal record without any fixed plan to release it. The band quickly found its own expression, however, and the project developed into a visionary band. Drummer Lev Weinstein and bassist Nicholas McMaster later joined the line-up.
Now, the experienced band are ready to take over Ideal Bar, and on October 21, audiences can experience the full force of Krallice’s metal.
