A Colossal Weekend can now reveal the first names for the 2027 edition of the festival.

First announcements range from one of noise rock's most uncompromising institutions and British cult doom to Brazilian future post-rock and one of the internet's 'secret' underground phenomena.

The four first acts are: A Place To Bury Strangers, Anthropocene, Sadness and Warning.

A Colossal Weekend 2027 will feature around 30 acts and will take place in VEGA and Basement from May 13th to 15th, 2027.

A Colossal Weekend is the Nordic region's leading festival for genre-crossing and experimental heavy music.

Since 2016, the festival has presented artists such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Cult of Luna, Chat Pile, Anna von Hausswolff, Russian Circles and Deafheaven, alongside a wide selection of the international underground and tomorrow's trendsetting names. The festival is organized by VEGA in collaboration with Danish and international partners.

With the first four acts, the festival is already drawing the contours of the musical journey that will unfold in VEGA and Basement until May 2027.

A Place To Bury Strangers (US)
Few bands have challenged the borderland between noise rock, shoegaze and post-punk as uncompromisingly as American A Place To Bury Strangers over the past twenty years. Led by Oliver Ackermann, the New York trio has built a reputation as one of the alternative music scene's most intense live bands, where almost physical feedback, light and volume merge into an all-consuming concert experience.

Warning (UK)
Warning stands as one of doom metal's most cult-like names. When Patrick Walker and the rest of the band released their Rituals of Shame, ending a wait of almost twenty years since its predecessor Watching From A DistanceMeanwhile, the latter has grown to near mythological status among doom fans worldwide, while countless bands have attempted to emulate the special combination of melancholy, heaviness and vulnerability that Warning made their own.

Anthropocene (BR)
From Brazil comes Antropoceno, one of the most interesting new names at the intersection of post-rock, avant-garde metal, psychedelia and South American musical traditions. The project works with everything from nature recordings and ritualistic rhythms to huge, cinematic compositions, creating an expression that feels equal parts ancient and futuristic. Antropoceno is a name that points forward, and a perfect example of the new generation of artists who are challenging the idea of what heavy and experimental music can be.

Sadness (US)
Over more than a decade and a staggering number of releases, Sadness has built a dedicated global fan base with its deeply personal blend of black metal, shoegaze, screamo and sad-core. The project has long been surrounded by an almost cultish fascination among fans of the modern underground, and although Sadness has only begun performing live in recent years, the opportunity to experience the project remains rare. At A Colossal Weekend 2027, audiences can experience Sadness in Denmark for the first time.
