AySay sabers the cork of VEGA's opening concert
AySay takes everything you think you know about genres and turns them inside out. The Danish-Turkish-Kurdish trio fuses their Nordic roots with frontwoman Luna Ersahin's Anatolian roots. AySay's music celebrates diversity and builds bridges between worlds, making them a prominent name on stages around the world.
The trio combines traditional instruments such as saz and darbuka with electronic elements. AySay's unique sound is taken to new heights by Luna Ersahin's captivating vocals, which elegantly weave back and forth between Danish, Kurdish and Turkish, with complete ease.
In 2023, AySay released the album KÖY, which followed on the heels of their critically acclaimed debut album Su Akar from 2021. KÖY won a DMA Roots for Danish Roots Release of the Year. And in 2024, the group's latest single “Tu Bi Xer Hatî” was released. The song was released as a feature with the artist NATURE, an initiative started by the organization Sounds Right. The money NATURE earns goes to improving and restoring the Earth's ecosystem. Ersahin says about the song:
“The song 'Tu Bi Xer Hatî' is about connecting with the beginning of everything. About traveling back through your memories to the moment you feel the cold, fresh air after breathing through water for nine months.”
“Tu Bi Xer Hatî” features nature sounds from glaciers, birds and forests. Nature sounds from the Nordic and Middle Eastern regions blend in beautiful harmony, and is a breathtaking example of what makes AySay so special.
It's a challenging exercise to put into words what exactly AySay's unique sound reminds you of. But imagining a collaboration between Altin Gün, AURORA and Eivør speaks volumes about their inciting and versatile sound universe.
On January 9th, AySay kicks off the 2026 concert year and sets the bar high for another season of unique musical experiences in VEGA.
