On August 28th, Hilal Kaya will release her debut album Sümbüm, and in this regard you can experience her unique genre combinations in Lille VEGA on September 3rd.

Danish-Turkish vocalist and songwriter Hilal Kaya is one of the most striking new voices on the Danish music scene. With deep roots in the Anatolian singing tradition and a modern artistic expression, she moves in a magical sound universe that spins fine threads of Anatolian-inspired psych-folk, ethno jazz and roots.

Together with oud and bağlama player Orhan Özgür Turan, Hilal Kaya has assembled a particularly strong and well-playing orchestra. She has since refined her musical expression, where Anatolian roots meet Nordic sound, improvisation and modern songwriting.

Hilal Kaya debuted as a soloist with the single “Perişan” in 2024, followed by “Sultan” and “Harabe” in 2025. “Sultan” was nominated for Danish Roots Track of the Year at DMA Roots 2025, where Kaya was also nominated for New Danish Roots Name of the Year.

In addition to her solo career, Hilal Kaya has collaborated with the Danish supergroup Kalaha. Together they have created music that has been nominated for several jazz and roots awards. Her vocals add a unique, cultural twist to Kalaha's electronic and jazz-influenced sound, which has attracted attention both at home and abroad.

Hilal Kaya is known for her intense and immersive concerts. She has a rare ability to connect and leave a lasting impression on the audience.
