Indie anniversary tunes with The Whitest Boy Alive in VEGA
In 2006, something happened on the alternative music scene that still echoes 20 years later.
Because with a capital “I” in indie, I found The Whitest Boy Alive their way to an international audience with their debut album, Dreams, in the arms of. And this year the quartet can celebrate their 20th anniversary of the release – a celebration that will be marked with a concert in Store VEGA on August 27th.
The Whitest Boy Alive was originally an electronic music project in its infancy, but quickly developed into a full live band, where a minimalist and sober expression is combined with indie pop, funk and stylish grooves.
Although the band has a relatively thin discography, which only counts the two albumsDreamsandRules, with their discreet and melodic beats, they have had great success in fan favorites. On Dreams you can hear “Bruning” and “Golden Cage”, and on the follow-up Rules (2009) you can find “1517” and “Intentions”, which must be said to have hit status today.
The Whitest Boy Alive rarely performs, but the last time the group was seen on Danish soil was at Roskilde Festival in 2022, where the reviewer from GAFFA was delighted and wrote in his five-star review:
“The Whitest Boy Alive are simply timeless in their musical expression, drawing on strong musical traditions. What a party and celebration of music!”
Despite their sparse presence on live stages around the world, their concerts are highly appreciated by fans for their fervor, spontaneity and unmistakable sound. And now you have the opportunity to experience one of the great indie names of the 2000s at Store VEGA.
