June McDoom is currently promoting her new single “Without You”, which leads up to the release of her upcoming debut album Follow The Light on October 16, 2026. The song has already received praise from The Guardian, which describes it in the following words:

“Lush instrumentation – acoustic guitars, synths, harps and piano – float with almost aquatic grace, naturally as if rising towards the glow beyond the surface… intimate and warm, yet somehow disembodied and mysterious as well.”

June McDoom has created her own distinctive musical universe, where folk music merges with Jamaican musical traditions.

This musical fusion has its roots in her upbringing in a Jamaican household. While the bass from her father’s DJ sessions seeped through the floorboards into her bedroom, her ears were tuned to folk records.

Her grandfather also played a part in laying the foundation for the sound she creates today. He was a respected musician within the mento genre, a traditional form of Jamaican folk and dance music that has had a significant influence on the development of rocksteady and reggae, and whose influence can clearly be heard in June McDoom’s own music.

When June McDoom takes the stage at Ideal Bar on April 15, reggae, dub, folk and indie pop will come together in a beautiful and immersive musical universe.
