When Dent May ’s sixth album, The Big One, arrives on August 14, 2026, May embarks on a new chapter in his musical journey.

On this album, May opens the door to a larger musical community. With the addition of a talented live band, he moves away from the bedroom pop production that has previously characterized his music.

The album’s opening track and title track, “The Big One,” takes a clear-eyed look at the world, meeting life’s disappointments and heartbreak with cautious optimism and a belief that something good may still lie ahead.

The American music magazine Stereogum also takes note of May’s ability to turn the bleak into something uplifting, describing the song as “an exquisite, existential daydream.”

Across nearly two decades and six albums, Dent May has built an extensive discography. His sound has evolved from a more classic American indie sound into a bigger and more ambitious pop style, with fuller productions, more complex compositions and a good dose of crooner cool.

On April 24, 2027, Dent May takes the stage at VEGA with his unique blend of melancholy and joie de vivre. It will be a celebration of life – the good, the bad and everything in between.
