Contrasts have always been profound and at the center of the post-metal band Amenra's music. From the darkest abysses to fleeting and high-flying beauty.

Throughout their career, Amenra has released a handful of masterful albums and a number of EPs. This year they have released two EPs With Fang and Claw and The Toor, which together show why Amenra is one of the most memorable chapters in the post metal anthology.

In 2021, the Belgian post metal masters released the monumental album,The Door, which is their most honest expression to date. It's as if time, experience and maturity have slowly brought the band from the pitch-black darkness they started in and into the light. They have realized that the purest reflection of our humanity lies not only in pain, but in the edges that separate light from darkness.

After twenty years of mainly English lyrics, the latest album is in Flemish. This meant that everything came closer for Colin H. van Eeckhout, the band's co-founder and frontman. With the album, the band tried to open up the despair and pain to everyone.

The band has been a juggernaut on the European post metal scene since the beginning of 1999. The quintet mixes doom metal and sludge in their strange sound universe, where brutal passages are replaced by beautiful melancholic melodies.

Youniss Ahamad blends post-punk, hip hop and noise into experimental musical storytelling. Shaped by his Arab heritage and his upbringing as a black person in the suburbs of Antwerp, he has taken a unique path through the Belgian underground, which began with the exploration of abstract club music and which in 2023 found expression through a new post-punk sound on the album White Space.

On the 2024 EP Do We Try Beyond The Edge? Youniss continues to break with expectations of him. Here he explores the frontiers of music with biting lyrics about colonial structures, roaring guitar riffs and razor-sharp breakbeats.
