Joost fires the powerpop confetti cannon in VEGA
With a colorful elixir of mainstream pop, happy hardcore, and pop-punk, Joost rapidly sends listeners out onto a glitter-infused dance floor.
He has been praised by critics for his poetic lyrics, strongly combined with catchy beats and sharp pop melodies. In Holland, Joost has toured intensively with his band and performed at major festivals such as Lowlands and Pinkpop.
Last year, Joost won the prestigious Popprijs, which is annually awarded in Holland to the band or artist that has had the greatest influence in Dutch pop music that year. Since then, he has had a hit with the song "Friesenjung," which has over 100 million streams worldwide.
Joost Klein is taking part in this year's Eurovision where he is performing the touching song "Europapa," which, behind the colorful outfits and tightly choreographed dance moves, tells the story of the loss of his parents at a young age. About the song, he says:
"I have always tried to implement my life story. The shortest version would be that I lost my parents at a young age. I have been trying to deal with it over the years. Now I am 26. I got the chance to use this platform – probably the biggest stage ever – to share that feeling."
According to several Dutch media, he has been described as "three minutes of pure joy," and on February 24th, you can experience the energy, magic, and exhilarating power pop songs yourself.
