Eivør sweeps VEGA in expansive pop songs
Faroese singer Eivør harmonizes with the wild diversity of nature. Growing up on one of the most northern Faroese islands, the harsh, windswept landscape has had a huge influence on her music.
Her music creates a dark, immersive and cinematic sound that brings the intense Nordic landscapes to life, while her expansive pop songs captivate your ears. The singer is currently working on a new album to be released in 2024.
Most recently, she released the album, Segl (2020). The 12 songs explore the journeys we take as humans, both metaphorically and physically. The title - meaning "sail" in Faroese - alludes to our desire for growth and direction and the role that fate plays in both.
Segl explores the navigation between the soft and hard edges of life, and the balance to be found between strength and vulnerability, darkness and light.
Throughout her career, the singer has worked with artists such as Àsgeir, John Grant, Einar Selvik (Wardruna) and Dan Heath (Lana Del Ray) and can be considered one of the most eclectic artists in the Nordic region.
Eivør has also created soundtracks for all seasons of the Netflix series, The Last Kingdom. The music was co-written with Ivor Novello/BAFTA-nominated John Lunn.
The new official The Last Kingdom album Destiny Is All - written and produced by John Lunn, Eivør and Danny Saul, was released in 2023.
