Enchanting folk tales from UK shooting stars
Like pearls on a string, the up-and-coming British songwriter has Matilda Mann released a series of beautiful and critically acclaimed singles, which have now become the eminent debut album Roxwell.
The 14 songs are a testament to Matilda Mann's artistic work. Intimate folk-inspired stories are mixed with indie pop melodies, jazzy undertones and exuberant wind arrangements.
Roxwell is an intimate portrayal - capturing love in its myriad forms and nuances. The songs are as varied as the subjects, but all tied together by Mann's poetic lyrics, which contain equal parts light and darkness.
From the immersive hours in the bedroom to the hustle and bustle of the city and on to the calming refuges of nature, the songwriter invites the listener right into her poetic interior. Themes like first love in “Tell Me That I'm Wrong,” heartbreak in “Common Sense,” and the enduring strength of childhood friendships in her new single “Girls” are explored on Roxwell. She says about the album:
"Every song feels like a part of me, and I'm so, so excited that it's finally out in the world. It explores different kinds of love, growing up, and accepting what you can't change. Some songs I wrote almost subconsciously, only realizing their meaning later."
Matilda Mann was recently named BBC Radio 1's Future Artist of the Month and has been highly praised by leading music media outlets such as NME, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, COLORS, Rolling Stone UK and The Independent.
