Meltt take listeners on a psychedelic journey at Ideal Bar
Vancouver-based indie rock quartet Meltt have just released their third studio album, Pathways, which arrived on June 12.
Drawing on the sounds of psychedelic rock, the band effortlessly weave together dreamy indie pop, retrowave and electronic soundscapes. Warm synthesizers, organic rhythms and shimmering guitar textures come together to create a rich and immersive sonic experience.
Their sound is both rooted in the traditions of psychedelic rock and constantly reaching towards new musical horizons.
Since the release of their debut EP Visions in 2017, Meltt have continued to refine their distinctive sound, balancing catchy melodies and accessible songwriting with experimental elements and atmospheric layers.
Pathways has already received glowing reviews. Flood Magazine describes the album as:
“The resulting Pathways is a dreamy journey through various worlds largely colored by the synthetic sounds the quartet managed to achieve with new gear acquisitions and the ever-inspiring reference points of Radiohead and Mac DeMarco. It feels like early-era Tame Impala - perhaps what we might have imagined a Kevin Parker dance album to sound like prior to the reality of Deadbeat.”
Meltt consists of Chris Smith, Jamie Turner, James Porter and Ian Winkler, whose individual contributions shape the band's distinctive sound.
On Pathways, personal experiences and life's many turning points also take centre stage, adding another layer of depth to the band's musical universe.
On February 9, the Vancouver quartet bring their psychedelic dream rock to Ideal Bar, where audiences can immerse themselves in the captivating sounds of Meltt.
