Soleima fills VEGA with uncompromising rock
Soleima is by no means an unwritten page in Danish music. From P3 hits and strong live performances to the critically acclaimed album The Nation's Scratches, which really highlighted Soleima's lyrical talent in Danish, she has sung her way into the musical hearts of the Danes. With the current release – Hærværk/Mesterværk - Side A she is taking a new step in her musical development. With a more rock sound at the center, the ambition is clear: Soleima wants to be the next big Danish rock name.
First half of Hærværk/Mesterværk - Side A shows a rocking, uncompromising and courageous side of Soleima – a sound that characterizes the current concerts, as well as the upcoming one at Store VEGA. The sound was created in collaboration with Bjarke Niemann (Spleen United). Soleima says about the collaboration:
"It was central to the record that everything was recorded live – so that was one of the dogmas that was set before we knew who would produce the record. A mutual friend suggested Bjarke. To me, Bjarke and Spleen United represent unpredictability and out-of-body musical experiences that border on trance and impenetrable invulnerability. A disregard for everything that makes us worried and mortal creatures.”
The two opening singles, "Den Udødelige Historie" and "Sidste År" attracted widespread attention, and led Soleima to the selected releases of the week at Soundvenue and Politiken, and at GAFFA with a 6-star review for the new album:
"It may sound bordering on megalomania, but the singer's fearless approach to the grandiose instead creates original songs that both bite away and bite in.(…)In just 33 minutes, Soleima delivers a raw and vital collection of poems on par with the greatest poets of our time. Hærværk/Mesterværk - Side A is a rebellious and almost flawless (masterpiece) about self-development and understanding.”
Hærværk/Mesterværk - Side A and Soleima's distinctive artistic vision is evidence of an artist who is not afraid to explore new territories on both the publishing and live sides.
