New Zealander Yumi Zouma colors their irresistible indie pop tones with elements and beats from a broad palette of synthpop, shoegaze and dreampop.

The band, which was formed in 2013, has a number of releases in its discography; at the time of writing, four EPs and four albums have been released, and now the quartet is back on the road.

A new album titled, No Love Lost to Kindness, is set for release on January 30, 2026 and Yumi Zouma has already given a taste of the upcoming cut with the captivating single “Drag”, which landed in September.

On “Drag,” Yumi Zoumas introduces the listener to a heavier soundscape with grunge-inspired guitar surfaces and glitchy, industrial-sounding synthesizers; all elements that lead up to a grandiose and almost Catharic chorus. The band explains the song’s sonic inspiration and universe in a press release:

"We wanted the song to feel like slowly rotating in sludge and then screaming the most anthemic chorus at the top of your lungs. Hooks from a 1998 issue of Smash Hits are covered with samples and industrial synth arpeggios from the nonexistent soundtrack of the crossover prequel for RoboCop and The Fifth Element, featuring Silverchair, Shihad, Garbage, Stellar*, Evanescence, and Placebo."

Yumi Zoumas has been enriching audiences with music for more than a decade and has toured with, among others, Lorde, Jamie xx and Magdalena Bay and garnered recognition from media outlets such as Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound and The Guardian.

The audience can expect high class indie pop when Yumi Zouma lets the first tender feelings of spring into Lille VEGA on March 9th.
