Divine Greek psych tones paint VEGA in cosmic colors
Greek heavy rock powerhouse Villagers of Ioannina City have just revealed the cover art and title of their upcoming studio album, We will win., which will be released in spring 2026 via the leading record label Napalm Records.
Although details about the album remain scarce, the announcement marks the beginning of an exciting new era for one of Europe's most visionary and genre-bending bands.
With their feet planted in the rugged, mountainous Epirus region, the band has built bridges between Balkan folklore, Greek history and psychedelic stoner rock through their astonishing releases.
The band is deeply inspired by Greek nature and cosmic phenomena and blends their unique form of psychedelic rock with folk instruments such as bagpipes, flutes and didgeridoo.
With inspiration drawn from giants like Black Sabbath and Tool, spiced with traditional instruments and scales from the rich Greek musical past, they have created a distinctive sound that is as massive and hypnotic as it is beautiful and moving.
Since their breakthrough with the album Riza (2014) and their critically acclaimed sequel Age of Aquarius (2019) the band has risen from the heavy Greek underground to become one of the country's most electrifying live forces. Their performances are immersive, transcendent experiences - a collision of quirky rhythms, cosmic energy, mighty guitar riffs and cultural heritage that has captivated audiences across Europe.
With the new album We will win. Lurking on the horizon is the band ready to bring their explosive and genre-bending sound to Lille VEGA on March 15th.
