South American heat with Malena Zavala in Ideal Bar
With a wonderful mix of synth-pop, rock and funk, Malena Zavala Ideal Bar. Zavala was born in Argentina, but moved to England at a young age, and in her music you can hear a genre mix that navigates inspiration from her Latin roots and her British upbringing.
Zavala has embraced the DIY aesthetic since the beginning of her career. The debut album Alder from 2018 was recorded in her parents' garage. The album catapulted Zavala onto the British media radar, with airplay on several BBC channels and a warm reception from The Guardian, which dubbed it "gently warped and beguilingly melancholy guitar pop".
The sequel La Yarara 2020 saw Zavala delve deeper into the South American sound, exploring genres like Cumbia and Bolero. In January, her first album in almost six years will be released, If This Life Could Start Again.
If This Life Could Start Again is a testament to Zavala's journey from self-taught producer to independent artist and is described in a press release as "a profound statement of resilience, echoing the vast landscapes of her heritage and affirming her place as a compelling and evolving voice in contemporary music".

SEOULL is a new band from Copenhagen consisting of Juliane Frederikke Klubien, Anton Kærsgaard Santesson and David Moreno Risell. The group moves at the intersection of the organic and the produced, drawing threads to modern pop and R&B with a focus on melodic strength and a present expression.
The band has already made a name for themselves with their first releases, including the debut single "Helt for mig selv", which has been played several times on P3. The concert at Idealbar marks one of SEOULL's first live performances and is presented in a more acoustic format, allowing space for the core of the songs and vocal expression.
