Asha Banks drapes VEGA in velvety melody lines
In the musical sky, a new star is rocketing through the cloud cover and into the pop stratosphere. The shooting star is Asha Banks, who released her debut EP earlier this year, Unite My Tongue.
The EP secured her a contract with Island and Polydor Records (Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Fender), and the cut has laid the foundation for Banks' upcoming release, How Real Was It?, which will be released during the autumn.
Asha Banks writes emotionally dense and well-crafted melodies and, as a singer and songwriter, has pop in the sun sign and singer-songwriter-folk in the ascendant. A soundscape that holds its listener close in its embrace in a heartwarming musical embrace.
Banks' musical journey began at a young age, where she found a different kind of musical mentor in the bartender at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, her local pub in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England.
Here she tuned her guitar to the sounds of Oasis, Joan Jett, Amy Winehouse and Johnny Cash and disappeared into the wonderful world of music – with the courage to convey her inner life in her own songs.
Although her debut EP is only a few months old, it has been streamed over seven million times, and Banks has already played support for singer-songwriter Noah Kahan in Hyde Park.
