Danish synthpop duo is back with new album and anniversary concert in VEGA
The synthpop duo, GENTS , can celebrate 10 years as a band.
On the occasion of the milestone, the musical duo, Niels Fejrskov Juhl and Theis Vesterløkke, announce both their new album, Masculinity, and the anniversary concert, TEN YEARS OF GENTS, which will take them past Lille VEGA in March.
Where GENTS has filled the audience's ear canals with lush synth themes, choir arrangements and boundary-pushing EDM elements on releases like Embrace the Future (2015), About Time (2017) and souvenir (2022), the duo now slows down the pace and opens the door to a new sonic dimension on Masculinity.
On the album, which will be released on January 30, the danceable hooks and synth-saturated productions have been replaced with an acoustic soundscape, where soft guitar chords, piano melodies and drums sound in an almost folk universe.
The album centers on modern and diverse masculinity. The press release summarizes the thematic core as: “being a soft, privileged good guy who still doesn’t quite live up to his own ideals.”
The intimacy and vulnerability are thus in a different tone when lead singer Niels Fejrskov Juhl pours out his soul in honest lyrics accompanied by Theis Vesterløkke's productions on the new album.
At the concert on March 6th, the audience can look forward to being enveloped in GENTS' lush synthpop tones from their ten-year back catalogue - and not least experiencing completely new beats and tones from Masculinity.
