experimental sensory stimulation with Mike Sheridan at Ideal Bar
On February 19th, producer and composer Mike Sheridan presents his TOUCH: IMMERSIVE in Ideal Bar.
Inspired by pioneering electronic music, the work blends sound, performance and installation. Here Sheridan explores what happens in the moment of touch, when the senses are sharpened in a sign of curiosity and necessity.
Another source of inspiration for the work is Sheridan's own experiences with dyscalculia, which has shaped his intuitive approach to music.
“It came as a powerful reflection that my difficulties with numbers may have had a much greater influence on my music than I had previously thought. TOUCH has been the title of my work over the past year, and it has proven to evoke an expression that seems to have been hiding beneath the surface. It is music that I am very much looking forward to performing,” he says.
For the concert at Ideal Bar, Mike Sheridan will play the rare French Cristal Baschet; a sculptural glass instrument with roots in the 1950s and 60s “musique concrète” from France. He will also work with other special sound sources, including a modular synthesizer.
Leading up to the concert, Mike Sheridan has worked intensively on Ideal Bar's sound system, where 18 speakers give artists new opportunities to experiment and expand their musical horizons.
TOUCH: IMMERSIVE is an opportunity to experience Ideal Bar in a completely unique setup, when Mike Sheridan invites you to a vibrant and sensual musical experiment spiced with his ambient tones live.
