On January 15-16, 2027, Folkets Festival is back at VEGA for the third time. The festival is curated by Dreamers' Circus and once again fills the entire house with concerts, dance, community and musical encounters across generations and traditions.

On Friday, the festival opens in Lille VEGA with warm-up, talks and concerts, before Saturday's main program spreads to Store VEGA, Lille VEGA and Ideal Bar from afternoon until late at night.

The program includes a free family concert, Nordic dance, Sønderhobal, Folk Night Club and concerts with some of the Nordic countries' most prominent names in folk music and related traditions.

Among the first names announced are Danish Stundom, who will open Store VEGA on Saturday, and Norwegian Valkyrien Allstars. This year's program loosely revolves around the role of storytelling in folk music - in the songs, in the stories between the songs, and in the special connection that arises between musicians and audience when the music is shared in the same space.

Folkets Festival is based on the idea that folk music is not just something you listen to, but something you participate in. The festival prioritizes community before showcase and creates space for jams, dance and spontaneous meetings across levels and experiences.

The audience is therefore encouraged to bring instruments, and the festival is once again establishing a free instrument wardrobe to support spontaneous musical encounters throughout the house.
