Sarah Julia opens the door to the innermost chamber of vulnerability in VEGA
Based on their shared upbringing, the sisters behind Sarah Julia tender and introspective indie folk gems with crystal clear, penetrating vulnerability.
In collaboration with producer Catherine Marks (boygenius, The Big Moon, Wolf Alice), the EP saw, Only Making It Worse, came to light last year, and this fall Sarah Julia is once again set to release their debut album, The Fear That This Is Real.
And it is with the two album frontrunners “Bigger Picture” and “Conversation”, which were released this year, that Sarah Julia plays into the hearts of the audience at Ideal Bar.
In their childhood home, the sounds of names like Cat Stevens and Jim Croce poured out of the speakers, and the sisters quickly found a love for music and expanded their repertoire to artists like Bon Iver and Ben Howard. The shared soundtrack was used as a platform for experimenting with songwriting themselves; an exercise that formed the soundscape for Sarah Julia's first EP, How Do We Go Back To Being Normal? from 2024.
The debut EP is a snapshot of a fragile period in the duo's life, and the sisters describe in the songs, through shatteringly honest lyrics, themes such as love, heartbreak and family. How Do We Go Back To Being Normal? is carried by the duo's vocals, which smoothly weave in and out of each other's presence, backed by acoustic instruments.

The concert is supported by Liveurope. Liveurope is the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European artists. Liveurope is co-funded by the EU's Creative Europe programme.
