Dream away to Tennessee when the Nashville Nights Spring Tour swings by VEGA
Selected singers and songwriters from Nashville - or with a strong connection to country and its hometown - are going on tour around Denmark for the sixth time. In the very special concert format Writers Rounds, the audience gets the opportunity to meet the musicians up close for evenings of great musical stories.
Line-up:
April Cushman
Want to hear about a singer who's got the world listening? Meet April Cushman, a true country girl from New Hampshire who's taken the American music scene by storm. With a voice that could melt even the coldest heart, she's already garnered plenty of praise from fans and critics alike.
April is not just a singer – she is also a talented songwriter who finds inspiration in everyday moments, big and small. Her music is a blend of Ashley McBryde's rawness and Lori McKenna's amazing storytelling. And let's just say it: April can write songs that go straight to the heart.
In 2024, April Cushman took Denmark by storm when she performed for the first time at the popular Nashville Nights Festival in Odense. The audience loved her energy and honesty, and she was rewarded with a standing ovation. It is clear that April has found her audience here in the Nordics.
Jade Helliwell
Jade Helliwell's magnetic stage presence is driven by a potent blend of powerful and soulful vocals wrapped in her authentic pop-country melodies. From her early years, Jade discovered a passion for music and perfected her skills as both a singer and guitarist. Inspired by artists such as Kelsea Ballerini, Priscilla Block and Maren Morris, she weaves their influences into her music, creating a unique fusion of modern country with her own unique vibrato.
It was a serendipitous moment in 2017 that transformed her career. A video of her breathtaking duet with a street musician on a lively night in Leeds went viral on platforms like Facebook and YouTube, propelled Helliwells into the spotlight. Since then, the musician has continuously made a name for herself in the industry with a string of standout singles, including the award-winning songs “Smoke,” “Stomchaser,” and “Drive.”
With an irresistible blend of talent and charisma, Jade Helliwell has become a sought-after performer, appearing on festival stages across the UK, Europe and Australia.
Dan Smalley
Smalley expresses a fresh take on country music that knows the tradition, inspired by the genre's big names and imbued with the swampy sounds of his roots, gospel music from hardwood church pews, and the passionate delivery from soul music.
Artists like Merle Haggard, Ray Charles, Waylon Jennings, Al Green, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and other legends provided inspiration, while the success of Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson against the grain drew him to Nashville, where he worked with producer Keith Stegall on his debut EP.IF I'M BEING HONEST, which was released in 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic. Smalley has since produced his first full-length albumTHE STATE OF COUNTRY MUSIC (2024) which was nominated for the 2024 BCMA International Record of The Year.
Smalley has played at some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Faster Horses, Country Fest, Frank Brown Songwriter, Nashville Nights International Songwriter Festival (Denmark), Buckle and Boots (Manchester) and Heartland Festival (Denmark).
Gary Quinn
Gary Quinn, is an 8-time BCMA Award-winning artist from Northern Ireland. Quinn seamlessly blends his Northern Irish roots with a modern Nashville sound. Inspired by his father's Kris Kristofferson band and lively family parties, he has built a successful career in the UK and Europe. With a sound reminiscent of Chris Young and Cody Johnson, Quinn has topped the UK country charts and garnered support from Spotify, Apple Music and key industry figures such as Ty Bentley and Country Line Radio.
His dynamic live shows have captivated audiences at festivals such as Glastonbury and C2C, while he has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Phil Vassar and William Michael Morgan.
Beyond his own success, Quinn actively supports the UK country music scene by mentoring emerging artists and co-founding festivals such as Buckle & Boots in Manchester. From Omagh to Nashville, his journey exemplifies the resilience and innovation that characterises British country music.
Blue Foley
Nobody does it quite like Blue. Blue Foley is one of Nashville's most beloved and respected songwriters. Most recently, in 2020, Blue was nominated for his second Grammy for Ashley McBryde's album Neverwill, for which he wrote the title track. In 2019, he had two Grammy nominations for the two songs he wrote for McBryde's album Girl Going Nowhere.
That same year, Blue was nominated for Australia's Golden Guitar Award for Best Traditional Country Album for the title track on Angus Gill's album Welcome To My Heart. Blue has seen several artists perform his songs on the Grand Ole Opry and has over 100 "cuts" (released songs written for other artists) on both independent and major labels.
Stiko Per Larsson
With eight critically acclaimed albums under his belt and an impressive 15 million streams in Swedish ears, Stiko Per Larsson is an established name in his native Sweden. His ability to captivate listeners with honest lyrics and melodies that go straight to the heart has made him one of Sweden's most popular artists within his genre.
Now Stiko Per Larsson is starting an exciting new chapter under the alias Otis Kerp. His English-language Americana and country songs have gained explosive popularity on both sides of the Atlantic since the end of 2023.
The talented Swede was nominated for no less than six categories at the prestigious 2024 Josie Music Awards in Nashville – a clear indication of the international potential of his new musical direction. A concert with Stiko Per Larsson (as Otis Kerp) has been described as an emotional rollercoaster ride, ranging from hearty laughter to heartfelt melancholy.
