Deerhoof defies rock's genre conventions in VEGA
On August 7, 2025, American band Deerhoof will fill Lille VEGA with their genre-bending sound.
In a strange musical maelstrom of enigmatic guitar riffs, quirky, catchy melodies and Satomi Matsuzaki's unmistakable bright vocals, American Deerhoof creates a completely unique sound universe that is packed with varying stylistic expressions with equal parts dynamic momentum and goosebump-inducing fervor.
Deerhoof made their musical debut with the album The man, The King, The Girl in 1997 and since then the group has released singles, EPs and several albums at short intervals. The album Breakup Songs from 2012 in particular caught the attention of the music media, with GAFFA reviewing the album with five sparkling stars. In 2023, the track Miracle-Level was released to rave reviews. And now Deerhoof has started stirring the musical pot again with new tones on the way. On April 24th of this year, the band's latest addition to their extensive discography will be released; the album Noble and Goldike in Ruin.
On Noble and Goldike in Ruin, the group maintains their enormous musical range. Deerhoof are musical pathfinders of the highest caliber - always searching for new combinations of genres - and their upcoming release is no exception. In a press release, the album's soundscape is described as follows:
“Noble and Godlike in Ruin's production sheen is cinematic, almost orchestral, and the musicianship gleams as it twists between rock, punk, latin, classical, funk, and no - wave. It's as if our protagonist keeps shattering the fourth wall that the instruments behind her keep scrambling to rebuild.”
The audience can look forward to a unique musical evening in Lille VEGA when Deerhoof dazzles with their genre-bending sound universe.
