The awesome The Beaches fill VEGA with grinding indie rock
It's hard to stand still when The Beaches power up the amps. For more than a decade, the Canadian quartet has been a guarantee of catchy indie rock that evokes fond memories of Wet Leg, Wolf Alice and HAIM with steel wire on the six-string.
The group is named after the area of Toronto where the members come from. After releasing two EPs in 2013 and 2014, their debut album “Late Show” was released in 2017, which, among other things, reached a wide audience through the excellent singles “Money” and “T-Shirt”. The album also secured The Beaches the award as “Breakthrough Group of the Year” at the Canadian answer to the DMA, the Juno Awards.
The sequel Blame My Ex (2023) built on the strong melodic virtues somewhere between melancholic ballads, cheeky indie pop and grungey guitar broadsides. The single "Blame Brett" topped the Canadian singles chart and is The Beaches' most popular song to date with over 100 million plays on Spotify.
In August 2025, the group's third studio album was released. No Hard Feelings, where the Canadians demonstrate that they still have growing pains as songwriters and musicians. The result is another excellent guitar album, which The Line of Best Fit awarded a 9 out of 10 and called “a pop masterclass”, while Clash gave it an 8 out of 10 and described it as “Ace alt-pop songwriting full of energy, self-irony, and hope”.
The Beaches have previously performed in Denmark, most recently at Roskilde Festival 2024, where GAFFA gave the group's performance four stars. This spring, the hyper-energetic Canadians will return to our latitudes when they present the songs from No Hard Feelings for their largest Danish venue concert to date on February 21, 2026 at Store VEGA.
