On May 13th, you can experience the alternative rock pioneers when they power up Lille VEGA.

With acclaimed cuts such as The Real Ramona (1991) and University (1995), Throwing Muses took life with the listener and seriously kicked the door into the alternative rock scene through the 90s. Now the trend-setting band fronted by Kristin Hersh is back in the studio to work on new music, and the group has once again put the tour bus in gear on their first European tour since 2011.

Throwing Muses' latest album Sun Racket (2020) is a tour de force in the rock trio's hearing to fuse guitar surfaces wrapped in distortion and reverb with Hersh's razor-sharp poetic nerve and haunting vocals. In a review of the album, the music medium The Quietus lavished praise on the spherical conditions at play at Sun Racket:

“Like all of Sun Racket's songs, it attains a transcendent, mantric like force through repetition of multi-tracked vocals and the resonating squall of guitar that it emits cloud-like from the deceptively simple core of its construction.”

The wordsmith, Kristin Hersh, is famous and infamous for her eccentric vocals, unique lyrical universes and "no-bullshit" attitude. Hersh has a string of strong releases under her own name behind her, where in particular the debut album Hips and Makers (1994) cemented her name as a singer and songwriter.

The British media The Guardian has praised the enigmatic musician and has called Hersh "One of indie rock's most fascinating figures".
