American singer/songwriter and guarantee of sunny tones, Pokey LaFarge, with his ear for surf-inspired and solid tropical rockabilly songwriting, has created a universe that is undeniably musical balm for the soul.

LaFarge has a string of releases under his belt, including 2021's In The Blossom of Their Shade, which made sunglasses necessary for The Guardian editorial staff with their dazzling review and five sparkling stars. Last year, LaFarge added another cut of sublime, colorful and airy Americana, Rhumba Country.

On Rhumba Country, LaFarge mixes genres from widely different eras and corners of the world, including mambo, tropicália and American rock-and-roll, with Brazilian singer and composer Jorge Ben Jor in particular being one of the album's main sources of inspiration. LaFarge's versatile curiosity for music therefore plays a crucial role in shaping the album's inciting and captivating sound.

According to the musician himself, the music is an invitation to meet and celebrate life and love, and about the nature of songwriting, LaFarge says: "The songs that come naturally to me are optimistic and make you want to dance or at least bang your head - they are all very colorful."
