Classic string quartet meets pop rock comet
Absalon String Quartet and Agnes Hartwich, who represent two very different musical expressions, fuse the classical and the rhythmic with two riveting concerts on the same evening in Ideal Bar.
Absalon String Quartet
Absalon String Quartet is a young refined string quartet ensemble formed in 2020 based in Copenhagen, which has most recently distinguished itself by winning 'Førsteprisen' in P2's Chamber Music Competition 2023. The quartet is known for their emotional interpretations, passionate interplay and personal and immediate approach to music.
The quartet already gained recognition when they won the Rued Langgaard Competition in 2021 and in that connection played at the opening concert of the Rued Langgaard Festival in the same year. Since then, the Absalon String Quartet has given concerts at a large part of Denmark's music associations and concert halls with empathy and joy.
The quartet works with Professor Tim Frederiksen at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen. The talented string quartet consists of violinists Thera Ortved and Andreas Larsen, Alva Rasmussen on viola and Hedda Aadland on cello.
Agnes Hartwich
Agnes Hartwich is a young and ambitious Danish singer and songwriter, who recently released her debut album Space Age Country Girl released in July 2024. Her sound encapsulates a riveting fusion of pop and rock, where the lyrics revolve around personal experiences of falling in love, self-exploration and life as a young woman with roots in the province.
Through her lyrics, Hartwich describes her own life as a young woman, with roots in the province and the big emotions that overshadow everything when you have to find your foundation. It's songwriting about anger and the feeling of being different. But it is also about hope, raw energy and the stormy and overwhelming love that can strike a teenage heart.
Her concert at the SPOT Festival in Aarhus received 5 stars from GAFFA and this summer she was finally back on the live stages – the biggest in this country – when she hit the Roskilde Festival. The debut album is in the making and is expected out at the beginning of 2024.
The first music from the talented singer came out in autumn 2021 with the debut single "Deep Dark Blue". Last summer, Agnes Hartwich followed up the release of the album Into the Deep Dark Blue with the single, "DAMN WAUV", which became P3's Uundgåelige (the inevitable of the week).
