At the top of the indie rock heights with Maximo Park
Maximo Park burst onto the UK indie rock scene in 2014 with 13 catchy cuts packed with playful guitar riffs and epic choruses. With his debut album A Certain Trigger, Maximo Park managed to carry on the proud British rock music tradition of legendary bands such as Buzzcocks, The Jam, The Smiths and Pulp.
Soundvenue praised the album for its sonic splendour, awarding it five big stars and writing:
"The band's debut, A Certain Trigger, is uplifting to listen to, to say the least. There are no stuffed noses or gem-loving upper class to bump your head against, but rather 13 well-prepared and unpretentious garage pop songs, cut with a humorous and self-ironic edge that will put a smile on even the shyest of faces."
With a keen sense of crisp melodies, tempo changes and blaring distorted guitars, Maximo Park have put together the perfect components for an epic rock show in 2024.
In 2022, the band released the single "Merging Into You" featuring guest appearance from singer and songwriter Du Blonde. With Du Blonde's radiant voice at the forefront of the soundscape, the listener is transported through a melodious and fast-paced universe where the lyrics tell a beautiful story of love in its purest form. The song is followed all the way to the door by a dizzying virtuoso sax solo delivered by Faye MacCalman.
Frontman Paul Smith explains: "Merging Into You's organ sound reminds me of some of our early songs, which ended up on the flipside of our first singles."
