daughters reinvent femininity at Ideal Bar
daughters makes vocal-based, voluminous, electronic art pop that explores different corners of femininity. Their lyrical universe is honest and theatrical and makes room for both embrace and pettiness.
In collaboration with other artists who interpret the music through e.g. costumes, scenography or choreography, each concert gets a cross-aesthetic and unique expression. In 2024, daughters will insist that femininity is not only fragile, adorable and introverted, but also raw, fierce and ugly.
døtre sent their debut single “follow” to the streets in April 2023, and in February of the following year the EP followed I'd Rather Stay Awake (2024). At the SPOT festival this year, daughters played a concert that GAFFA awarded 6/6 stars and words of praise:
“One wonders whether this concert can really be a showcase concert. In other words, a concert with an artist from the growth stage who has not yet really broken through. Professionalism screams to the skies (...) Roskilde Festival, I'm looking at you. Are you reading along?”
daughters consists of Nynne Spangegaard Rasmussen, Sofie Herdorf Krøyer and Sophus Dræby, who together compose, arrange and produce the music. Mathias Carl Gyvlgaard on bass, and Tobias Nygaard is behind the drums. Choir and choreography: Jean Anastasia, Laura Teglhøj, Didde Strand, Mathilde Thrane and Maiken Funder.
Support: SOLOW
SOLOW invites you into a sonic universe where you feel both held, seduced and kicked in the ass at the same time.
In her lyrics, the young singer depicts themes such as shame, grief, terminal illness and the transition from falling in love to the decay of love.
SOLOW's airy and warm vocals are equal parts insistent and seductive. Wrapped in light electronic and organic productions, the music takes inspiration from R&B and pop.
It's sexy, it's fragile, and it's overwhelming.
