John Cxnnor's sound slaps send VEGA into sonic ecstasy
It became one of the most talked about concerts at this year's Copenhagen festival, and the reviews from the concert were filled with explosive enthusiasm. John Cxnnors masterful and intense doom rave was a concert you would be sorry to miss if you have a penchant for music of the heavy, genre-destroying kind.
Music magazine Devilution awarded the show the maximum 666 under the headline “Copenhell 24: Triumphal procession at midnight”. Now you have the opportunity to relive the massive concert experience when John Cxnnor drums down Store VEGA – but with extra mushroom clouds in their apocalyptic universe.
French electro/synth-act Sierra is on as a special guest and 3 floor shows as a warm-up. None other than Norwegian Witch Club Satan, Smertegrænsens Toldere and Embla, will start the evening off with black metal and HC on the floor of Store VEGA. Sierra will then take the stage with a DJ set before John Cxnnor joins. In addition to the music, there will be a merchandise market and a large laser show from the artist collective Vertigo. The evening will end with an afterparty in VEGA.
With him on stage, John Cxnnor brings a black storm of guest vocalists:
Witch Club Satan, HIRAKI, Kim Song Sternkopf (MØL), Victor Kaas (LLNN, EYES), Andreas Bjulver (CABAL), Mai Soon Young Øvlisen (Meejah), Jacob Bredahl (Smertegrænsens Toldere), Martin Nielskov (The Psyke Project, Embla), Benjamin Clemens (SYL), Thomas Burø (Lack, Tvivler).
In addition to the already impressive list of guest appearances, you can also look forward to Kai Uwe Faust + Warriors from HEILUNG.
'It will be an evening where the 'scene' and our community are invited inside VEGA's iconic setting, and where the underground and the future unfold. An evening where formats and musical boundaries are moved, broken down and continued, which we look forward to sharing with as many as possible' - says Rasmus G. Sejersen, the other half of John Cxnnor.
John Cxnnor is known for inviting their listeners into a total universe of dark beats, visuals and a host of guest vocalists. Through this, the duo shares their love for 90s techno aesthetics and cult films such as Cube, The Crow, Event Horizon, Blade, Terminator 2. Live, they tear concertgoers into a dystopian rave born out of a years-long passion for hardcore, metal, hip hop and techno. The two brothers, noise and concept makers Ketil and Rasmus G. Sejersen, are behind John Cxnnor when they are not playing with the metal group LLNN.
Special guest: Sierra
With her infectious bass and sharp beats, SIERRA has been unleashing her strong electro and darkwave signature energy ever since the release of her first EP STRANGE VALLEY in 2017, followed by GONE in 2019, which introduced fans of the synthwave scene to her work, both in France and abroad.
The vibrant cinematic atmosphere and industrial undertones of her music led to her being approached by online content creators and the video game industry, resulting in her performing in Rennes at Stunfest, a prominent event in the gaming world, following in the footsteps of influential artists PERTURBATOR and CARPENTER BRUT, who share her love of powerful genre mash-ups.
Floor shows:
Witch Club Satan
Witch Club Satan is an occult, feminist black metal band consisting of Nikoline Spjelkavik (guitar), Victoria Røising (bass) and Johanna Holt Kleive (drums). The trio identifies as witches and invites their ancestors and the women who were burned at the stake to scream through them on stage. The lyrics are written and performed as incantations, and the concerts are a ritualistic, holistic experience with extreme visual and sensory elements. Musically, the band draws inspiration from the early, experimental, punk phase of the Norwegian black metal scene, but they still sound like their own generation. Together with the audience, the witches evoke a brutal force. Witch Club Satan creates sonic chaos - an alarming primal scream.
Embla
Embla is a five-piece post-hardcore band based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band, formerly known as We Are Among Storms, formed in 2016 and released the album »The I In We« under that name in 2021.
The band is strongly influenced by the duality of humanity and its both symbiotic and destructive relationship with nature. Channeling this into their music gives Embla a unique, energetic and chaotic, yet peaceful and atmospheric output.
Embla consists of current and former members of The Psyke Project, Nordsind, Myrkur, Église and Meejah. The band has built a reputation as an intense, emotional and violent live act on the Danish underground hardcore scene.
