Rebellious western tones from eminent Koe Wetzel
At the crossroads of dusty outlaw country and electrifying rock & roll, you'll find
Koe Wetzel . His lyrics are about lost love, broken friendships and when life takes an unexpected turn.
Most recently, he released the single "Damn Near Normal" this year. The song is about life on the road as a performing artist. Although the lifestyle is different from many others, it has become the norm for Koe Wetzel. Hours on the tour bus, changing landscapes and thousands of fans flocking to see him in their hometown have become the songwriter's everyday life, and he celebrates this on the single.
The track was co-written with Gabe Simon (Lana Del Rey, Noah Kahan, Dua Lipa), Amy Allen (Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Harry Styles), Carrie Karpinen and artist Sam Harris. Koe Wetzel became a name on every Texan's lips with lightning speed when he released his monster hit "Drunk Driving" in 2020. With a mix of heavy electric guitars, thunderous drumming and powerful vocals, Wetzel was pushed to the forefront of the American country music scene, and he has since tipped his Stetson and delivered a series of ear-catching hits and albums.
"Drunk Driving" is featured on the masterful album Sellout, which received countless praise and stars for its ear-catching melodies and experimental genre mixes of organic country, crunchy grunge and uptempo rock. Music magazine Raised Rowdy wrote in their dazzling review:
"Wetzel is an artist who transcends genres by taking sounds and inspirations from Americana, grunge, punk rock and country and combining them into his own works of art. There aren't many artists today who have been able to combine their various influences so seamlessly that they've almost created their own genre of music."
It was the singer-songwriter's 2017 third album Noise Complaint that really kick-started Koe Wetzel's career. Tracks like "Something To Talk About" and "Tell It All Town" received massive regional airplay.
