Torgeir Waldemar unleashes his tragic folk rock songs in Ideal Bar
In 2014, Torgeir Waldemar's self-titled debut album landed with a bang out of nowhere on the Norwegian music scene. The folk-filled, soft, and tragic songs wove their way through a universe of country, rock, and Americana and received two Norwegian Grammies.
Waldemar's aching voice combined with a dark persona quickly led critics and reviewers to compare him to Neil Young, Gene Clark, and the Laurel Canyon scene of the 70s.
In 2022, he performed a sold-out show at Oslo's Opera House, which landed as a live album at the end of April this year. In September, a new studio album by the singer will be released, following up on the previous one Love from 2020.
The new record, Mercy, is the acoustic counterpart to its predecessor, which was more full on in the soundscape. The two album titles are connected and are a nod to the Brian Wilson song "Love And Mercy".
