L'Impératrice takes on Store VEGA
The French pop and disco band L'Imperatric e was formed in Paris in 2012. The sextet has been kick-starting enchanting dance parties ever since with their catchy hits. Keyboardist Charles de Boisseguin formed the band when he missed the more organic, disco-based sounds and grooves, at a time when the Parisian music scene was dominated by electronic artists.
Drummer Tom Daveau and bassist David Gaugué are the cornerstones of the insistent and driven groove. Two keyboard players and a guitarist are also present, adding enchanting melodies played on vintage equipment. L'Impératrice got their big break with their third EP, Odyssey, from 2015, when the eminent jazz singer Flore Benguigui had become part of the group. Ever since then, they have toured intensively and have visited Denmark several times. Most recently they played at this year's Heartland on Funen, where Poplish wrote in a 5/6 star review:
"The six-piece band, which was constantly in motion and which also changed instruments along the way, provided a blast of a party this Friday evening. Well-dressed, with their baby-blue uniforms, it all came together.”
In December, the Danes will once again get the opportunity to put on their dancing shoes with L'Impératrice when they take over VEGA, where they gave a sold-out concert in Lille VEGA in 2022. This time it is Store VEGA that will be transformed into a French disco party.
