Indie rock crooner Hamilton Leithauser returns to VEGA
The charismatic songwriter and former lead singer of the legendary indie rock band The Walkmen has spent the last eight years writing and recording sparkling new indie gems for his newly released album. The release is titled This Side of the Island and was written in the heart of Brooklyn in his home studio, The Struggle Hut.
Hamilton Leithauser is known for his atmospheric lyrics and impressive raspy vocals. He has been a significant driving force on the vibrant indie rock scene in New York since the early 2000s, effortlessly moving from The Walkmen's international successes to a flourishing solo career.
This Side of the Island boldly turns away from the folk rock tendencies of his two previous albums, I Had a Dream That You Were Mine (2016) and The Loves of Your Life (2020). On This Side of the Island, the songwriter introduces a more groovy and bass-heavy sound. It is a strange musical journey, where Hamilton Leithauser, through nine eclectic tracks, sends loving nods to a wide range of names such as Sly Stone, Talking Heads, Randy Newman, Neil Young, Panda Bear, and SZA.
