New divine songs from The Divine Comedy at VEGA
Neil Hannon, the driving force behind The Divine Comedy, has spent his 36-year career releasing uncompromising, intelligent lyrics that seamlessly match his whimsical chamber pop compositions. And now fans can rejoice that the solo project's thirteenth album is just around the corner.
In September, the pop master will be back with a new album, Rainy Sunday Afternoon. This and Hannon's entire impressive back catalog will be part of his 2026 tour, with Lille VEGA on March 22nd. On March 22, Lille VEGA will host another of The Divine Comedy's legendary concerts.
With their contrasting chamber pop, which has been associated by British music critics with The Cure, Morrissey and Blur, The Divine Comedy has gathered an impressive fan base. And the Danish critics have let the stars rain down on Hannon's Danish concerts.
The last time Neil Hannon blew Lille VEGA full of well-orchestrated pop music was in 2017. The Danish newspaper Information sent Klaus Lynggaard, who described the concert as “superb”.
In his review, Lynggaard explains why one of Britain's most recognized songwriters - despite his worldwide popularity - is perfect in Lille VEGA's smaller concert space:
"This is of course due to the excessively high quality and excessive intelligence Neil Hannon insists on displaying, lyrically and musically, but it was paradoxically the luck of the audience, because the intimacy and the whole atmosphere of celebration that characterized this Tuesday night would surely have been lost in a larger venue. Simply divine, dear."
