Dip your toes into trendsetting post-rock with Japanese toe in VEGA
This year, the Japanese post-rock masters from toe celebrate 25 years as a band. On this occasion, the quartet will go on tour in Europe, where the jubilarians will find their way to Lille VEGA on April 19th.
On the release front, the single “(AND) NOW I SEE THE LIGHT” has been the most recent addition to the discography; the single was released a year after their album of almost the same name: NOW I SEE THE LIGHT (2024).
The album is toe's fourth full-length album and, in its sound universe, is a bridge between the explosive wildness that characterized their first releases and the later preference for a more restrained, refined approach to the soundscape, where vocals also play a clearer and more prominent role.
As a whole, NOW I SEE THE LIGHT stylistically closes the circle between the early and late toe, and in this way the band's 25-year long journey as musical pathfinders culminates on the album. toe is undoubtedly a size all its own. The band, which was formed in 2000, has touched on everything from pop, post- and math rock to jazz, R&B and electronic, spherical elements with its releases.
toe is a name that has left a distinctive and original mark on both instrumental and experimental music.
There is no doubt that the mood is set for an evening in the name of virtuosity when the group unfolds their versatile and genre-bending sound tableaus in Lille VEGA.
