Pendulum lights up VEGA with long-awaited new album
An intense experience is in store when Pendulum comes to Denmark this autumn. The Australian group has achieved its success with an intense and hard-hitting mix of drum'n'bass, breakbeats and heavy guitar riffs.
Now the group is finally ready with a long-awaited fourth studio album “Inertia”, which will be released on August 22. “Inertia” was produced by Rob Swire and Owen Charles and recorded at Pendulum’s studio in London. The album is a furious emotional storm of 16 tracks – undoubtedly the band’s most personal work to date – and features collaborations with Bullet For My Valentine, Wargasm, AWOLNATION, Scarlxrd, Joey Valence & Brae and Hybrid Minds. Pendulum was formed in 2002 in Perth by producers Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen and DJ Paul “El Hornet” Harding. The following year they released their debut single “Vault”, which attracted attention in their home country and the UK’s electronic scene.
In 2005, the band released their debut album, Hold Your Colour, which entered the album charts in both Australia and the UK, where the band received a gold and platinum record respectively. The debut remains one of the best-selling drum'n'bass albums of all time. That same year, Pendulum also had a hit with a remix of Prodigy's Voodoo People.
In 2008, the follow-up, "In Silico", was released, which drew more inspiration from rock and electronic music. The album was also a great commercial success, reaching number 2 on the UK album chart, while reaching number 9 in its home country. It was followed in 2011 by Pendulum's third album, "Immersion", which featured contributions from the Prodigy's Liam Howlett, Steven Wilson from the UK's Porcupine Tree and the Swedish death metal band In Flames. "Immersion" was Pendulum's third consecutive hit album to reach the top in the UK, while it reached the top 20 in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Austria.
In 2012, the members of Pendulum took a break while Swire and McGrillen focused on the side project Knife Party. In 2015, however, it was announced that Pendulum would start playing live again, which they have since done diligently in all corners of the globe. Although fans have had to look far for a fourth studio album, they have not been on the lazy side since the reunion. Pendulum has subsequently released two EPs, a remix album and a long list of singles and collaborated with the likes of Bullet For Valentine singer Matthew Tuck and Dutch DJ and producer Armin van Buuren.
Today, Pendulum continues to be an exceptionally captivating live experience, thoroughly tearing the audience apart at their concerts. Here at home, the group has been a relatively rare guest, but now their Danish fans can look forward to experiencing the Australian hit group live on October 11th at Store VEGA with songs from their new album.
