Grandbrothers unite past and future with new atmospheric album in VEGA
When Grandbrothers When it comes to the keys and keyboards, it often ends up in grandiose soundscapes that contain both gentle synergies and contrasting counterplay between synthesizers and the classical piano.
And with their characteristic combinations of emotional piano and electronic textures, the German duo, consisting of jazz pianist Erol Sarp and engineer/software designer Lukas Vogel, have created a universe that unites the feeling of both past and future.
This is especially true on their fifth studio album, Elsewhere, which will be released on September 26th of this year. After several years of silence, Grandbrothers return with a renewed sound and an expanded live show. The album promises us the building of layered textures, complex rhythms and a sense of both intimacy and momentum.
They will bring the new record and the new live show when the groundbreaking duo puts stars in the electronic night sky in Lille VEGA on November 4th.
Here, Sarp and Vogel will integrate analog synthesizers, drum machines and a particularly powerful sense of movement into their live performance for the first time. In addition, the concert will be characterized by a special new visual expression that reflects the atmosphere of Elsewhere.
The group has been releasing music together since 2012 and has particularly made a name for themselves on the international electronic scene with the 2023 album Late Reflections, which was recorded in the Roman Catholic cathedral Kölner Dom. This has given the album a rare sense of history and architecture; particularly represented in the album's deep, ambient and atmospheric compositions.
