NewDad rips VEGA apart with thorny shoegaze
With lyrics that, like the thorns on a rose, are ready to prick and tear holes in the skin, Irish NewDad captivated audiences worldwide and left an indelible impression on critics. The Galway group has even been hailed as Ireland's greatest guitar hope for their dark shoegaze sound and pain-seeking lyrics.
With clear references to Wolf Alice, Pixies and Garbage, NewDad kicked the door into the international music scene in 2024 with the critically acclaimed debut album Madra. In 2025 they are back in the news with the EP Safe.
Safe marks a new maturity for the band, who have polished off the dream elements and tightened up the guitar riffs. On the follow-up, they continue their exploration of the darkest chambers of the heart in an alluring and raw universe. The synthesizer has gained a permanent place in the sound universe, and the band thus takes a step away from their grunge and mournful expression on Madra.
With youthful, devilish energy and tight production, NewDad has given their familiar references from the past a contemporary expression, which they will blast through Lille VEGA on October 5th.

The concert is supported by Liveurope. Liveurope is the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European artists. Liveurope is co-funded by the EU's Creative Europe programme.

Shinyhunt is an indie rock band from Copenhagen. The band consists of Signe Christoffersen on vocals, Frederik Winther Barkholt on guitar and vocals, Mads Elsig Pedersen on drums, and Mads Refshauge Kjær on bass. Inspired by the alternative rock of the 90s and 00s, shinyhunt writes great songs from a small flat: shoegaze fuzz, heavy grunge riffs, melodic bass and insistent drums, softly wrapped in Signe's airy vocals.
Following the release of their album sea-salt ice cream in 2024, the band has embarked on an eventful spring. This culminated at this year's SPOT Festival, where the band's concert at Aarhus Bowling Hall was named by Soundvenue as one of Saturday's top 10 moments. Their single ‘daughter’ – an explosive ballad that sounds like the soundtrack to a forgotten 00s film – is the first single from the band's upcoming album and points to an exciting new era for the band. They are currently promoting the song ‘shakebrain’, which will be released on 8 October.
