And So I Watch You From Afar drapes VEGA in instrumental virtuosity
The Northern Irish math rock icons from And So I Watch You From Afar makes experimental and raw instrumental compositions with a feel for emotional weight. The band's musical range runs from the noisy and pulsating to a euphoric and overwhelming sound universe that bathes the audience in consciousness-expanding guitar surfaces.
This year, And So I Watch You From Afar added another record to the collection, Megafauna, and are therefore now out with a new album.
Central to the album is the single pair “Mother Belfast, Pt. 1” and “Mother Belfast, Pt. 2”, which, with undisputed musical virtuosity and an eminent exchange of guitar riffs from Rory Friers and Niall Kennedy, precisely encapsulates why And So I Watch You From Afar today are hailed as pioneers in instrumental math rock.
In a review of Megafauna, the American music magazine FLOOD Magazine proclaims "Mother Belfast" as an absolute musical highlight and acknowledges with the following praise:
"Their talent is most convincingly reflected in the two-part centerpiece of the record, "Mother Belfast," an epic adventure that runs a combined nine minutes and may ultimately stand as the high watermark in the band's entire career."
In 2009, the band's self-titled debut album landed and since then a number of convincing releases have seen the light of day - all with the common feature of being equal parts uncompromising and exploratory.
Riffs run down the walls when And So I Watch You From Afar hit the guitar pedals in Lille VEGA.
