The sun still shines in November with Clovis in VEGA
With African rhythms in his feet and a solid band to back him up, Clovis creates danceable Afrobeats that float between the several different languages that the musician masters.
On his new single “Mango”, Clovis rewinds time to his childhood memories from the heat in Malawi, where the artist spent many hours in the refugee camp eating small, juicy mangoes:
“When I was little in the refugee camp in Malawi, I always ate those little mangoes. We were in Africa, and there's a way where you just bite a little hole in the bottom and suck the juice out. It's one of the best memories from my childhood, and for me it was 'the sweet life,'”
“Mango” characterizes Clovis' always bubbling energy, coaxing dance steps out of every listener's body; inciting saxophone melodies and driving momentum make the track a strong contender for a soundtrack for days at the beach and backyard parties in the summer sun.
However, the single digs a little deeper with lines like: “Money has taken my time, a new day rises and the same thing again.” Clovis uses the song to encourage others to take a break from adulthood and feel the sun's rays again.
Clovis is ready to revive summer in the darkness of winter at Ideal Bar on November 29th.
