Alternative rock giants Garbage take over VEGA
The iconic alternative rock band Garbage returns to Denmark – this time with the original lineup back together.
On June 4th, Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker will take over Store VEGA for a concert that will be a unique opportunity to experience one of the most significant bands of the 90s in their original form.
Since their breakthrough in the mid-90s, Garbage has left a clear mark on alternative rock with albums such as Garbage (1995), Version 2.0 (1998) and Beautiful Garbage (2001) and songs such as “Stupid Girl”, “Only Happy When It Rains”, “Push It” and “I Think I'm Paranoid”.
The band's unique tension between electronic textures, heavy guitars and Shirley Manson's charismatic vocals has made them both influential and relevant across generations. The concert in Copenhagen is also linked to the band's eighth album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, which was created under unusual circumstances.
The album took shape after Shirley Manson had to cancel the tour in 2024 due to severe pain from an old injury. While she underwent rehabilitation, the other band members began building moods and sound sketches in the studio and sending them to her as creative starting points.
The result is an album where the lyrics revolve around vulnerability, survival, community and hope, and where Garbage moves in an atmospheric and cinematic sound universe with distinctive bass lines, sharp riffs and dark sound surfaces. An expression that feels both recognizable and renewed – and which testifies to a band that still insists on developing artistically.
When Garbage takes the stage in Store VEGA on June 4, it will be an evening where new material and a strong back catalogue come together in a concert experience with intensity and presence.
