The American avant-garde rockers from sunn O))) return to the live stage with a new album and concert at Store VEGA on June 19th.

If you have been involved with genre-crossing and experimental rock music for the last 30 years, there is a good chance that you have come across American sunn O))) .

For almost three decades, Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson have pushed the boundaries of heavy and dark music in a sound universe that meanders in an avant-garde and rock expression in a style that is completely unique.

And now sunn O))) returns with their first album of new material since the critically acclaimed Pyroclasts from 2019.

The upcoming self-titled album is their tenth release. On the album, which is set for release in April of this year, sunn O))) works with their well-known elongated sonic progressions, where light meets darkness and time and space cease in an expansive, droned and almost meditative soundscape.

The single “Glory Black” is an excellent example of the interplay that can occur in the duo’s music. Here, heavy guitar surfaces are broken up with delicate piano tones, and the heavy and dark are alternately replaced by the light and delicate.

Live, sunn O))) are masters at breaking with the classic concert experience. Clad in cutouts and with a focus on the low and deep bass tones, they create a heavy, physical presence, where the audience stands face to face with a wall of sound waves that wash over the listener.
